Welcome to the Rise Up Journal

Storytelling has always been used across cultures to bring communities together to learn, share and preserve culture. These stories are often passed down from one generation to the next, building generational knowledge.
At the Rise Up Journal, our goal is to document the stories of people enriching communities in Sudbury and creating opportunities, especially for new migrants, minorities, and youth. This work is often unrecognized and underappreciated, and the Rise Up Forward journal will highlight them. We will have stories recapturing event highlights, interviews with entrepreneurs, community members and more.
“I want to create a place where stories of the community can be documented and shared,” says Emélie Labelle-Mboma, Founder of Rise Up Forward. “These stories are an important part of our community, and they deserve to be seen and heard.”
Labelle-Mboma’s background in management, relationship building, and strategic planning enables her to see the big picture, and the Journal is part of her larger vision for Rise Up Forward Studio to tell and amplify stories of people and businesses in Sudbury, Ontario and across Canada.
We hope you follow along to the Rise Up Journal.
